4e étape (samedi) : de Springfield, Mass à -------»»»» Stanstead-Est, le Buron!
On a hâte de retrouver tout notre monde, notre maison et nos minous -- et on espère que le printemps saura bien nous accueillir!!!

Le printemps à Central Park
Tout ce temps sans donner de nouvelles -- c'est que la vie va vite, nos journées sont remplies de plein de choses et ... j'avoue, j'ai été un petit peu paresseuse! Mille excuses!
Alors voici, pour vous aider à attendre le printemps, trois belles photos, repiquées du blogue d'une ex-journaliste américaine, qui vit à New York. Les magnolias sont en fleurs à Central Park, paraît-il. De toute beauté : une explosion de rose et de blanc! Ça vous rappellera peut-être des souvenirs?

Joyeuses Pâques! Happy Easter!
Pâques, c'est bien des choses : une fête religieuse, l'annonce du printemps, le souvenir des souliers neufs quand on était (plus) jeunes, le festival du chocolat (poules, lapins, oeufs, alouette!) ... et surtout, un congé!
Alors, peu importe ce que vous célébrez, je vous souhaite un très beau et long congé, avec du beau temps printannier en prime!

I remember that when we were young, Easter would mean wearing new shoes and walking on sand-crunchy sidewalks, with a very typical sound under our footsteps.
But for almost everybody, Easter is a long week-end off work! So I wish you a nice Easter break, hoping you get beautiful weather as a premium!

Des heures et des heures de tâches, petites et moins petites, domestiques et triviales : démonter, emballer, ranger, déplacer, sortir, entrer, replacer ...
Accrocher, tirer, reculer, enligner, fixer.
Des rires, des sourires, des espoirs, de la fatigue. Beaucoup de patience!
De la chance : une journée magnifique, un beau soleil, pas trop de chaleur, zéro vent !
De l'aide en masse, des ami-e-s bienveillant-e-s, qui donnent un coup de main et remontent le moral!

How could one resume the adventure of moving ?
Let's say there is before ... and after!
Hours and days spent on all sorts of tasks, big and small, domestic, trivial work : undo the set-up, wrap everything up, take it out, store it temporarily, then take it back in, place everything in new cupboards and storing places, etc. etc.
Hook up, pull, move, back-up, fix everything back again!
Smiles, laughs, sighs, hopes, stress, fatigue ... Loads of patience!
We were lucky : Thursday was a beautiful sunny day, not too hot and not too cold, no wind whatsoever! Perfect!
Lots of help from many friends around, who give support and a helpful hand throughout the process! Many many THANKS!

Depuis, on fait ce que tout le monde fait dans un déménagement : on range, on place, on dérange, on déplace, on cherche, on couraille et on recommence!
Mais on prend aussi un peu notre temps -- il nous reste un petit mois pour s'installer comme il faut tout en profitant de la vie!
We are now doing what everybody does to settle down : placing things somewhere, changing our mind and putting them somewhere else; then forgetting where everything is, looking all around and starting all over again!
Anyway, we have a whole month left to enjoy life while settling down. So, no hurry there!

La fin! The end! El fin de los trabajos!
Ça y est ! Les travaux sont terminés! Youppppiiiiiiiiiii!
Well, that's it : the work is done! The new floor is completed, finishhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! (For english version, see below in dark red ...)

Aujourd'hui, en terminant notre journée de travail, nous avons au moins la satisfaction d'avoir atteint notre objectif : Pauline a complètement remplacé le plancher (séjour, chambre, ET extensions) et elle a fait un travail remarquable! Quelques voisins curieux sont venus jeter un coup d'oeil et s'émerveiller : l'effet est assez saisissant, faut dire!
Les deux dernières journées ont été consacrées à la grande extension, celle où loge la table, les chaises et le sofa; aujourd'hui, ce fut au tour de la petite extension. Une oeuvre de minutie, d'innombrables petits bouts à mesurer, sectionner, assembler. Bref!
So, let's say that wrapping up after today's work, we were quite satisfied to have reached our goal : the entire flooring has been redone, in the living room, the bedroom AND the slide-outs.
The slide-outs were quite tricky, because of many details, angles and specificities : all in all, the large one required two full days of work, the smaller one, a full day. But what a change!
Pauline did a remarkable job and the few neighbours who came by to have a peak were very admirative. She deserves congratulations, for sure!
We also did a remodeling job in the bathroom : new sink and new countertop. Just look!
Nous avons aussi fait quelques autres «retouches» de rénovation, dont un nouveau lavabo et son comptoir dans la salle de bain.
Finalement, nous avons aussi remplacé toutes les poignées d'armoires et de tiroirs, qui avaient un air vieillot. Au total : 48 nouvelles poignées à 2 vis chacune ...
We also replaced the rather old-looking handles on pantry doors and drawers. The new ones have a slim look : 48 of them, with 2 screws each ...
Pour cette semaine, il ne nous reste plus qu'à trouver/acheter/installer le nouveau téléviseur et à déménager nos effets personnels : vêtements, vaisselle, nourriture, serviettes, napperons, livres, paperasse, ordis, CD, etc. etc. etc... Bien du plaisir en perspective!
Le grand déplacement devrait avoir lieu ce jeudi -- on croise les doigts!
All is left to do for this week is shop for a new TV, install it and so on. Plus move all of our belongings : clothes, pots and pans, dishes, food, towels and tablecloths, books, papers, laptops, lamps, DVDs and CDs, etc. etc. etc. Fun ahead!
If all goes well, the new Caracole will be moved to our present site next Thrusday ... let's keep our fingers crossed!

Sorry, so sorry!
I should've known better : my English-speaking friends missed the story I posted the day before yesterday concerning the progression of the renovation work.
So, with my apologies, here it is!
This blog was silent for a whole week due to our concentrating on renovation and remodeling tasks in the new Caracole. Things are progressing well, but as you know, that type of thing always takes longer than expected. We get down to work every single day but the to-do list seems to grow longer every day!
All in all, things are progressing well! Pauline has installed a new flooring in the living room and in the bedroom. A very painstaking job, especially in those little spaces underneath the head of the bed! But the finished job looks very good and it enhances the whole place. Just see for yourself in the pictures!
The bedroom was particularly challenging, due to many small spaces requiring time-consuming cutouts. But Pauline is a great artist!
Steps were particularly demanding, due to heating vents, corners and so on! But they turned out very well!
One amazing thing for us was to see how our neighbors were surprised that a woman would do that type of work -- all by herself (that is, without a man next to her)! Some offered help, others, advice; many came just out of curiosity; some paid compliments for the quality of the work and the beautiful aspect of the finished floor. Everybody acted with a lot of respect and even with admiration, I would say! I bet Pauline will be offered jobs and contracts once she is done!
Here's how the place looked 2 days ago, just as we were starting work in the bathroom! The new countertop is standing upright, leaning on the kitchen counter.
The moving date has been postponed; it is now set for next Thursday, March 14th! So we keep up the pace and hope to make it on time!
